Year 7-8 Arts Rotation: Music
LENGTH: Ten weeks

COURSE CONTENT:
Students will learn to read traditional musical notation and develop elementary performance skills on keyboard, guitar and untuned percussion instruments. They will create an original composition using digital technologies and develop their understanding and appreciation for the music of the Australian Indigenous peoples and other cultures.
Students wishing to study music in year 8 onwards are recommended to study the year 7 Music Specialist (full year) course.
ASSESSMENT:
Students are assessed based on the concepts, capabilities and dispositions of the South Australian curriculum.
Assessment tasks include performance of elementary rhythmic pieces, development of basic keyboard skills, digital composition and music theory work.
