Stage 1 Design, Technology and Engineering: Woodwork – Traditional Furniture and/or Stage 1 Design, Technology and Engineering: Woodwork – Contemporary Furniture
COURSE CONTENT:
In this course, you will design and build a major timber project of your choice. You will learn how to turn your ideas into reality by using both traditional technical drawing methods and Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to communicate your designs. Throughout the course, you will develop a detailed folio, showing your research, design thinking, technical drawings, and the steps taken to create your final product. You will use a range of tools and materials, exploring both classic and modern furniture construction techniques. You will also look at how technology and manufacturing impact society, the environment, and sustainability. Your work will be assessed through your finished project and your comprehensive design folio.
ASSESSMENT:
Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types:
