COURSE CONTENT:
The SACE Stage 1 English course is well-suited to a wide range of student interests and abilities. SACE Stage 1 English explores how people communicate in different ways. The course develops student’s capabilities through responding to texts, creating texts, and understanding intertextuality. Throughout the subject, students will develop their critical and creative thinking by engaging with a variety of texts which may include poetry, novels, podcasts, media texts, films and short stories. The course develops an understanding of context, and the language features that we use to communicate for different purposes and audiences.
Throughout the subject, students will create a range of texts and think about what makes their communication unique and appropriate to their intentions. Students will analyse existing forms of communication in order to interpret intended messages and reflect on how ideas and beliefs contribute to a deeper understanding of the world. Assessments vary in mode, including written, oral, and/or multimodal.
