Year 10 20th Century History

COURSE CONTENT:
This course gives students an insight into 20th Century events that have shaped our 21st Century society. Students will explore three depth studies, with possible topics including but not limited to: the superpower rivalry of the Cold War, the technological advances of the Space Race which also influenced civil rights, and key social and cultural movements that have shaped our pop culture.
Students will further develop their historical skills by engaging in historical questioning and researching, higher level source analysis, including the identification and interpretation of perspectives. A key focus for students will be the development of explanatory and communication skills, skills that will be applicable to all future areas of study with which they engage.
ASSESSMENT:
Students are assessed based on the concepts, capabilities and dispositions of the South Australian curriculum.
COMPLETION OF THIS SUBJECT LEADS TO:
Stage 1 Modern History or any other subject in the HASS area, including Stage 1 Legal Studies, Stage 1 Ancient Studies and Stage 1 Tourism.
