Year 7 IGNITE – Strange Dimensions
LENGTH: One term
KEY CONTACT: Amee Allison
COURSE CONTENT:
This integrated unit is designed to draw connections between the topics of algebra, narrative, the laws of physics and civic systems.
- In English, students consider the experience of individuals as a result of their society, and explore the concept of alternative realities, where differences in societal systems have a profound impact on our perception and experience of the world.
- In HASS, students investigate the significance of civil systems on a society, recognising the implications of leadership and representation, and the necessity for laws and governance. Students explore the implications of worlds void of familiar systems of government, and come to recognise the influence of civil systems in their day to day lives, and how these differ to those other countries.
- In Mathematics, students explore the concept of algebra, and the process of applying logical systems to understand real-world problems. Students test their logical reasoning, exploring the implication of a world where laws of logic and reason change and alter, and why Mathematics plays a key role in regulating our understanding of existence.
- In Science, students test the limits of the physical world, considering the relationship between force and mass. Students explore connections between scientific theory by applying experiments and concepts to different applications of life. They consider the implications of a world where these concepts were changed or altered in order to understand how physical forces impact our lives in many different ways
