Year 9 Curriculum Overview

Compulsory Subjects

All Aberfoyle Park High School Year 9 students undertake a combination of compulsory and elective subjects, which are designed in line with the requirements of the South Australian Curriculum.

The Year 9 compulsory South Australian Curriculum subjects are:

• English (full year)
• Health and Physical Education (one semester)
• Humanities and Social Sciences [HASS] (full year)
• Mathematics (full year)
• Science (full year)

IGNITE students undertake the compulsory subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, and Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) within the IGNITE program and usually with their Care Group. IGNITE students also continue with the language studied in Year 8 (Japanese or Spanish). For more information follow this link to the APHS IGNITE Program.

Year 9 Elective Subjects

Year 9 students select five elective subjects in order of preference (1-5). Full year elective subjects must be selected as two consecutive preferences.
IGNITE students must continue in Japanese or Spanish (2 elective choices) and therefore choose a further 3 subjects from the following electives.
