Year 7-8 Arts Rotation: Drama

COURSE CONTENT:
Students identify and analyse how the elements of drama are used, combined and manipulated in different styles. They apply this knowledge in drama they make and perform to shape theatrical effect for an audience. They evaluate how they and others from different cultures, times and places communicate meaning and intent through drama.
Students will explore the role of body and voice on stage and work as an ensemble member through paired, small group and whole-class practical assessments. Theory work includes an exploration of Melodrama, self-analysis of theatre performances and a personal reflection on their learning and skills in Drama. Students must expect to perform in front of peers during this course.
ASSESSMENT:
Students are assessed based on the concepts, capabilities and dispositions of the South Australian curriculum.
Assessment tasks include a range of practical skill building activities, rehearsal processes, performance and personal evaluation.
