Stage 1 Modern History

Year 10 HASS and/or Year 10 20th Century History, Year 10 Legal Studies or Year 10 Tourism

COURSE CONTENT:
Stage 1 Modern History covers the period since 1750 and will consist of the following topics:

Revolution: The American Revolution
Elective: The American Civil War
Historical Study (independent area of interest)

ASSESSMENT:
Students provide evidence of their learning through four assessments, which will allow them to demonstrate a variety of historical skills, including analysis, multiple perspectives and interpreting historical texts. The four assessments are grouped under the assessment types below.

Assessment Types
1. Historical Skills: historical speech, historical essay and source analysis
2. Historical Study

COMPLETION OF THIS SUBJECT LEADS TO:
Stage 2 Modern History or any other subject from this area of study such as Stage 2 Ancient Studies, Stage 2 Legal Studies or Stage 2 Tourism.
