LENGTH: One semester
KEY CONTACT: Ingrid Cobiac
COURSE CONTENT:
In Year 9 Food and Fibre Technologies, students embark on a hands-on learning journey across three engaging sections. You will investigate the food industry and nutrition, exploring where our food comes from, how choices impact health and sustainability, and how society shapes what we eat. You will develop your culinary skills through product development, focusing on the latest trends in scrolls, experimenting with flavours, presentation, and nutritional analysis. In the textile’s component, you will design and create your own pair of pyjama shorts, learning sewing techniques, pattern design, and fibre production.
The course encourages creativity, practical skill-building and problem solving. It’s a chance to make, innovate, and understand how food and fibre shape our lives and our future.
ASSESSMENT:
Students are assessed based on the concepts, capabilities and dispositions of the South Australian curriculum.
