COURSE CONTENT:
In this subject, students demonstrate understanding, fluency, problem solving and reasoning over a range of mathematical topics, as described by the South Australian Curriculum.
These include:
- Number and Algebra (real numbers including irrational numbers, index laws, financial mathematics, linear expressions and equations, graphing linear relationships);
- Measurement and Space (area, perimeter and volume, circles, rates, time and time zones, Pythagoras’ theorem, congruence and similarity); and
- Statistics and Probability (data collection and sampling, comparing distributions, complementary events, two-way tables, tree and Venn diagrams, compound events).
ASSESSMENT:
Students are assessed based on the concepts, capabilities and dispositions of the South Australian curriculum.
Student assessment will be based on a combination of skills and applications tasks and folio tasks. Contextual problem solving and real-life examples will be drawn on to develop student understanding, fluency, and reasoning.
