COURSE CONTENT:
Get ready to step into the dynamic world of construction and unlock a world of exciting tasks and employment opportunities!
This course is designed to support students who are interested in a career in Trades and provides valuable insight into life in the Trade, and support you to take the first steps. This course is your gateway to gaining valuable knowledge and skills in performing a range of construction, repair, and maintenance tasks.
Get your hands on the tools, equipment, and materials as you dive into the world of trades. Your practical exploration tasks may include a range of tasks including stormwater and pipe laying to constructing timber frame walls, gyprok plastering and wall tiling and grouting. This will broaden your knowledge and skills into various construction trades. You will also connect with tradespersons to learn more as you embark on additional work placements.
Students will start to compile a folio that evidences their ‘Ready to Work’ skills to give them a valuable edge in landing employment in competitive industries.

ASSESSMENT:
This course is assessed under Stage 1 Integrated Learning, and students who are successful in its complete will achieve 10 Stage 1 SACE Credits.
- Practical Exploration. Students undertake a range of unique practical tasks including construction, repair, and maintenance tasks and are assessed on their quality and finish.
- Students connect with local industry and undertake some inquiry about life in the trade and explore pathway options in their trades of interest.
- Personal Venture. Students build a folio to evidence their ready-to-work skills and embark on additional work placements to capture more evidence, and reflect on their development. Students will present their folios in a round-table type presentation which may include teachers, and industry contacts.
COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE LEADS TO:
Certificate II in Construction Pathways. Students who successfully complete this course have the opportunity to be referred to the construction and plumbing FIP course in year 11.
