Year 8 Art (elective)

COURSE CONTENT:
Year 8 Art introduces visual thinking strategies such as the design process to generate personally meaningful and original ideas in arts making. Students will explore and respond to works from different cultures, times and places, generating images, for example fantasy creatures and environments in a variety of media which may include ceramics, paint, dry media and digital art tools. They will work individually and in groups to unpack and discuss works that inspire them, learning key tools for critical thinking and analysis that will be used in the following years. The art element of colour is a key feature of this course and students will learn mixing and selecting colour palettes to suggest meaning in works they make and view.
ASSESSMENT:
Students are assessed based on the concepts, capabilities and dispositions of the South Australian curriculum.
Assessment tasks include folio (process), presentation of final practical works and Art theory work.
