RECOMMENDED BACKGROUND: Successful completion of Year 10 Japanese
COURSE CONTENT:
By the end of year 11 students should be able to communicate about holidays, leisure, family, travelling around Japan and traditions in Japanese. They should also be able to read and write in hiragana, katakana as well as integrate more and more kanji. Cultural aspects are woven throughout the course such as the bullet train and religious festivals. Opportunities for cultural excursions at a Senior level include cooking Japanese food, attending an Anime film festival, viewing a Japanese Art Gallery exhibition or a visit to the Central Market.
Topics covered at Stage 1 are: Holidays and Leisure, Family, Travelling Around Japan and Traditions.
Students at this level may have the opportunity to participate in a Language Study Tour of Japan pending a successful application and any travel restrictions.
ASSESSMENT:
Students will be assessed throughout the year according to the performance standards outlined in SACE Stage 1. These tasks test the four macro skills of writing, reading, speaking and listening.
