COURSE CONTENT:
This integrated unit is designed to draw connections between the topics of economics, statistics and probability, environmental chemistry and persuasive media.
- In English, students explore the way that businesses use social media to promote and establish their brand in new markets. The explore the impact of social media on public perception, and the techniques used to generate demand and controversy through online culture.
- In Humanities, students explore the economic factors that influence price and value around the world. They analyse contemporary events and consider the social impact of new technologies. They investigate how changes around the world relate to changes in industry and consumer behaviour.
- In Mathematics, students look at statistical decision making, considering how data and probability can support financial investments. They unpack the concept of risk and explore the ways that risk can add advantage and disadvantage to investment decisions.
- In Science, students consider the environmental impact of industry, manufacturing and transport. They analyse the environmental footprint of different industries and investigate how pollution by-products effect the natural environment.
ASSESSMENT:
Students are assessed based on the concepts, capabilities and dispositions of the South Australian curriculum. Integrated units target specific skills within the South Australian curriculum, which are assessed in alignment with core subject areas.
