RECOMMENDED BACKGROUND:
Stage 1 Tourism or any other Stage 1 HASS Subject such as Stage 1 Ancient Studies or Stage 1 Modern History or Stage 1 Legal Studies.
COURSE CONTENT:
In Tourism, students develop an understanding of the nature of tourists, tourism, and the tourism industry. They investigate local, national, and global tourism. Students gain an understanding of the complex economic, social, cultural and environmental impacts of tourism. A student’s understanding of the sustainable management of tourism is central to the subject. Students also explore tourism as a business and its impact on the economy.
The course includes a variety of tasks involving written assignments, tests, oral activities, group work, negotiated multi-modal capabilities and excursions.
Excursion: Field trips to Monarto Zoo and McLaren Vale.
