Year 7-8 Technologies
LENGTH: 1 term for each of the four technologies subjects
KEY CONTACT: Ryan Brown
COURSE CONTENT:
In Year 7-8 Technologies, students study the Australian Curriculum, covering:
- Advanced Technologies (CAD/CAM, 3D printing, laser cutting)
- Digital Technologies (Coding and Robotics)
- Food and Fibre Technologies (Home Economics)
- Materials Technologies (Woodwork and Metalwork)
Throughout these two years, students learn to understand how social, ethical, technical, and sustainability factors impact innovative and enterprising design solutions for current and future needs. They gather and analyse data from various sources, create digital and non-digital designs using appropriate terminology and visuals, and safely develop digital solutions with user interfaces and programming. They also learn to plan, manage resources, and produce designed solutions for each technology area. Students establish success criteria, considering innovation and sustainability, to assess the suitability of their ideas and solutions. They practice effective collaboration, communication, and sharing of ideas and information in-person and digitally.
