Year 10 Design and Technologies – Food Technology

COURSE CONTENT:
In this course, you will get hands-on experience with making and presenting a wide range of delicious foods. You will learn essential cooking skills, explore food trends, and find out what’s happening in the world of food and hospitality today.
A major part of the course is designing your own food truck concept. You will work with others to come up with a theme, plan menus, and create dishes that would stand out in the food industry. This project lets you put your creativity into practice, from trying multicultural meals to decorating cupcakes and experimenting with how food is presented.
You will learn handy tips for keeping food safe to eat and ways to make the most of your ingredients, such as how to cut down on food waste. As you work through the course, you will get useful feedback from others and have plenty of chances to practise, improve, and be proud of what you create.
This course is for anyone who enjoys making food, trying new things, and working with others. You will build your confidence, creativity, and teamwork skills, and have lots of opportunities to practise and show what you can do in the kitchen.
ASSESSMENT:
Students are assessed based on the concepts, capabilities and dispositions of the South Australian curriculum.
