Year 10 Tourism
LENGTH: One semester

COURSE CONTENT:
Students learn about one of the worlds largest and fastest grow in industries. They plan a world trip to places of their own choosing and discover the requirements of travel planning from transport, accommodation and sightseeing to the intricacies of passports, visas and vaccinations. They learn about the sustainability of tourism and the growing ‘green’ trend of ecotourism through a case study of a self-chosen nature-based destination. Students investigate how to market a specific tourism destination and analyse its potential for success.
ASSESSMENT:
Although this is not an official SACE subject, students are assessed based on the performance standards of SACE Stage 1 Tourism to prepare them for a possible SACE pathway.

COMPLETION OF THIS SUBJECT LEADS TO:
Stage 1 Tourism or any other subject in the HASS area such as Stage 1 Modern History, Stage 1 Ancient Studies, or Stage 1 Legal Studies.
