COURSE CONTENT:
The Year 10 English curriculum is built around the three interrelated strands of Language, Literature and Literacy. Along with these strands there is a focus on developing knowledge, understanding and skills in reading, viewing, writing, speaking, listening and creating. Year 10 English continues to build upon the concepts and skills taught in Year 8 and 9. In this course, students will interact individually and in groups with literature and everyday texts in various forms and contexts including the local community.
Students will engage in both shared and independent texts including novels, poetry, short stories and films, as well as audio and electronic and print media for both enjoyment and analysis.
Students will analyse the similarities and differences between texts and will demonstrate how to transform a text into a new form.
ASSESSMENT:
Students are assessed based on the concepts, capabilities and dispositions of the South Australian curriculum.
