COURSE CONTENT:
In Year 9 Materials, you will build on your woodwork and metalwork skills by designing and making a variety of useful and creative products. You will experiment with different materials, techniques, and tools, bringing your ideas to life while learning how to shape and join materials safely and with confidence.
Projects in this course encourage you to think critically about how we can create better and more sustainable products for everyday use. Youl will explore the stages of the design process such as investigating needs, designing solutions, making, and evaluating outcomes; developing each step in detail as you take on new challenges.
Through hands-on learning and collaboration, you will become a more creative problem-solver, with the practical skills and experience to tackle more advanced technology and design opportunities in the future.
ASSESSMENT:
Students are assessed based on the concepts, capabilities and dispositions of the South Australian curriculum.
