RECOMMENDED BACKGROUND: Completion of Year 9 Spanish
COURSE CONTENT:
By the end of year 10 students will be able to communicate in Spanish to give advice, describe their holiday, give directions and discuss issues in Spanish-Speaking countries. They will be able to conjugate present, past, future, conditional and subjunctive tenses. Cultural aspects are woven throughout the course including developing understanding of issues in Spanish-Speaking countries. Opportunities for cultural excursions at a Senior level include cooking Spanish food, attending the Spanish film festival, viewing a Spanish exhibition at the Art Gallery, attending the STASA Senior Conference or a visit to the Central Market.
Topics covered at a year 10 level are: Communication, Advertising, the Environment, Holidays and Recreation Activities.
Learning is enhanced and personalised through the use of software applications that enable students to consolidate and extend their knowledge
Students at this level may have the opportunity to participate in a Language Study Tour of Spain pending a successful application and any travel restrictions.
ASSESSMENT:
Students are assessed based on the concepts, capabilities and dispositions of the South Australian curriculum.
Assessment tasks encompass a diverse range of activities, including reading comprehension, listening exercises, written assignments, and oral presentations in Spanish, in preparation for SACE Stage 1.
