SACE CREDITS: 20 credits
KEY CONTACT: Ingrid Cobiac
RECOMMENDED BACKGROUND: Stage 1 Child Studies
COURSE CONTENT:
In Stage 2, you will deepen your understanding of how children develop from birth to age eight, building on skills from previous studies. You will take on more responsibility by planning and leading learning experiences, such as play-based activities, story time sessions, and “kids in the kitchen” programs. There is a strong focus on supporting children with special needs and catering to a range of backgrounds and abilities.
You will critically examine how factors like family, culture, social structures, and government policies impact children’s lives and opportunities. You will also look at current issues facing children today, including inclusion, equity, nutrition, health, and the influence of digital technology.
Through research projects, practical tasks, and teamwork, you will develop advanced skills in evaluation, communication, and leadership. This course is suited to students interested in careers in education, health, or community services, and to anyone who wants to make a positive difference in the lives of children and families.
