Year 10 Extension Science

COURSE CONTENT:
Extension Science focuses on developing scientific inquiry skills across the areas of physics chemistry and biology. The course exposes students to the idea of scientific endeavour to further deepen their understanding and form connections between science and the global community.
Students will carry out practical investigations and collaborative tasks to strengthen their conceptual understanding of key scientific principles and the connected nature of the subject areas. In addition, students will explore science with an open mind and refine their inquiry and reflection skills.
The course is recommended for students who intend to study SACE Stage 1 Chemistry, Physics or Biology, or the IBDP courses of Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Environmental Systems and Societies.
ASSESSMENT:
Students will demonstrate their understanding through assessment in the following forms:
- Science as human endeavour tasks (essay or report format)
- Practical investigation
- Tests
- Examination (end of semester)
