Stage 1 French (beginners)
LENGTH: One year
KEY CONTACT: Mercedes Puyo Opitz
COURSE CONTENT:
Beginner’s French is an introductory language program for students wanting to pursue a language in year 11 and 12. The course is targeted at students with little to no experience with the language, and covers introductory skills to the language, which develop over the year.
The content of the course covers French speaking, listening, and writing, and equips students with language to use in and around different contexts of day-to-day interaction. Students develop a strong vocabulary to support their study and demonstrate their understanding in different ways throughout the year.
Beginners French can be used to contribute towards a SACE pathway in year 12, or an IBDP pathway. If you have always enjoyed the idea of learning a language, but haven’t engaged with previous options, this is the course for you.
ASSESSMENT:
Students will be assessed throughout the year according to the performance standards outlined in SACE Stage 1. These tasks test the four macro skills of writing, reading, speaking and listening.
