Year 10 Visual Art
LENGTH: One semester
KEY CONTACT: Suriya Down
COURSE CONTENT:
Year 10 Visual Art prioritizes the student’s own ideas and visual voice. To develop this, students will explore a range of media and materials (including ceramics, painting, drawing, print making, digital art etc.). Students explore industry pathways and understand how artists develop their personal styles and find an audience. Students will develop skills in concept development in order to communicate more highly personalized and complex visual messages and confidently use symbolism in the artworks they make.
Students will develop a portfolio exploring a range of short media workshops in different materials working both individually and in small groups, around a common theme. Then students will select materials and or subject matter to further explore and generate an entirely self-directed learning task where students take responsibility for planning, researching and producing their own artworks reflecting their unique visual voice.
Possible materials may include ceramics, printmaking, painting, digital arts making and dry media.
