COURSE CONTENT:
The SACE Stage 2 Literary Studies course is well-suited to students interested in exploring literature through thoughtful analysis and discussion.
Throughout the course, students will develop their critical thinking skills necessary for interpreting texts. In this subject, students will engage in both shared and individual study of texts and encounter diverse opinions and perspectives on texts. The course is designed to provide students with opportunities to exchange and develop ideas, gather evidence to support personal interpretations and learn to construct logical and convincing arguments. Students will also consider a variety of critical interpretations, deepening their understanding of texts and enhancing their analytical abilities.
The course also focuses on how literary texts represent culture and identity, and on the dynamic relationship between authors, texts, audiences, and contexts. The subject develops students’ understanding of the power of language to portray ideas, events, and people in specific ways, as well as how texts can challenge or reinforce cultural perceptions.
By focusing on the creativity and craft of authors, students will also enhance their own skills in creating texts and apply the techniques they have observed in their writing.
