Year 10 Outdoor Education
LENGTH: One semester

COURSE CONTENT:
Students will have the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to participate in activities in the outdoors in a safe and environmentally sensitive manner.
Skills covered include the extension of; Navigation, Trangia cooking, Outdoor Living Skills, Minimal Impact Camping techniques, First Aid, Risk Management, Leadership and Communication Skills. Learning about the environment, sustainable recreation and management strategies.
Practical experiences:
- Overnight Aquatics camp held at the Murray Lands Aquatic Centre, focusing on skill development for sailing, knee boarding, skiing and minimal impact camping skills.
- Rock climbing and abseiling to develop rope skills and group dynamics.
- Mountain biking excursion to develop skills and experience single trail riding.
ASSESSMENT:
Students are assessed based on the concepts, capabilities and dispositions of the South Australian curriculum. Assessment types include:
- Journals
- Research assignments
- Reflections
- Camps
