Year 10 Child Development
LENGTH: One semester
KEY CONTACT: Ingrid Cobiac
COURSE CONTENT:
In this course, you will discover how young children grow and learn, from conception and birth through to the age of five. You will explore what influences child development, like family, health, nutrition, and play, and learn how to support children at each stage.
You will have the chance to get creative and hands-on by designing and making projects for young children. This might include making and evaluating toys, planning play-based activities, and preparing healthy food for kids. You will also observe how children play and learn, using your observations to design better activities and experiences for them.
You will build important life skills such as finding and assessing reliable health information, working collaboratively, problem solving, and managing projects. These skills will not only help you in Child Studies and Design and Technology but will be valuable throughout your life.
