COURSE CONTENT:
By the end of year 8, students will be able to communicate about food, their hobbies, and their daily routine in Spanish. They should be able conjugate regular present tense verbs, the near future tense and understand the purpose of reflexive verbs. Cultural aspects relating to the topics are woven throughout the course such as Tapas and La Tomatina festival. Opportunities to cook and or taste Spanish food are also possible this year.
Topics covered at a year 8 level are: Hobbies, Daily Routine, Shopping, clothes, Culture and Travel.
Learning is enhanced and personalised through the use of software applications that enable students to consolidate and extend their knowledge.
ASSESSMENT:
Students are assessed based on the concepts, capabilities and dispositions of the South Australian curriculum.
Assessment tasks encompass a diverse range of activities, including reading comprehension, listening exercises, written assignments, and oral presentations in Spanish. Additionally, students will engage in reflective activities that compare and analyse their own cultures with those of Spanish-speaking communities, fostering a deeper intercultural awareness and appreciation.
