IB Global Politics

COURSE CONTENT:
Global Politics is a course for anyone interested in how global events impact societies and culture. The course looks at concepts such as legitimacy, sovereignty, peace and conflict, and how they influence political decisions and the balance of power. Students will learn to analyse and discuss current global events, connecting ideas to their own experience and worldview. The course explores a wide selection of case studies and real-world scenarios promoting empathy, critical thinking and intercultural understanding.
Global Politics is a group 3 subject, which counts towards the IBDP. Global Politics is a selectable option for any stage 1 student from the beginning of the year, and awards 10 credits per semester of study. Global Politics can be studied as a SL or HL subject.
ASSESSMENT:
Students will demonstrate their understanding through assessment in the following forms:
- Externally Moderated Examination
- Internal Case Study Report
- Formative learning tasks including practical reports, field work, presentations and research tasks.
- Semester examinations
