IB Psychology

COURSE CONTENT:
IB Psychology is the ethical systematic study of human cognition and behaviour. It is a complex subject which draws on concepts, methods and understandings from a number of different disciplines. Humans are complex by nature, and therefore the IB diploma explores human experience through biological, cognitive and socio-cultural approaches. The IB Psychology course challenges students to explore human behaviour and cognitive processes through a range of lenses to gain a greater understanding of humanity.
The IB Psychology course is available as a SL or HL subject and is recognised as a group 3 selection in the IBDP. SL will study one of the below options while HL will study two of the options as determined by teacher.

- Developmental psychology

ASSESSMENT:
Students will demonstrate their understanding through assessment in the following forms:
- Externally Moderated Examination
- Internal Experimental study
- Formative learning tasks including tests, oral presentations, group discussions, information reports and research tasks
- Semester examinations
SUBJECT COSTS:
All IB subjects incur an examination fee in the second year of the course in order to be externally assessed. The costing system is only applied to those that undertake the final examination, there is no cost to students who undertake the course for only one of two years.
