IB Beginner Spanish

COURSE CONTENT:
Language B (Beginners Spanish) is a language acquisition course designed to provide beginning language students with the necessary skills and intercultural understanding, to enable them to communicate successfully in an environment where Spanish language is spoken. Through studying the five prescribed themes (identities, experiences, human ingenuity, social organization and sharing planet), students are provided with opportunities to communicate about matters of personal, local or national and global interest, and to make connections to other disciplinary areas in the IBDP.

ASSESSMENT:
Students will demonstrate their understanding through assessment in the following forms:
- External Assessment
- Paper 1 writing
- Paper 2 listening and reading
- Internal Assessment (externally moderated)
- A conversation with the teacher based on a visual stimulus, followed by discussion based on an additional theme.
- Formative learning tasks
- Speaking: Interview, role plays, oral presentations
- Reading and reading comprehension
- Writing: Students will be given a choice of two questions
- Semester examinations
SUBJECT COSTS:
All IB subjects incur an examination fee in the second year of the course in order to be externally assessed. The costing system is only applied to those that undertake the final examination, there is no cost to students who undertake the course for only one of two years.
