IB Beginner French
LENGTH: One year
KEY CONTACT: Ryan Brown
COURSE CONTENT:
Beginner’s French is an introductory language program for students wanting to pursue a language in year 11 and 12. The course is targeted at students with little to no experience with the language, and covers introductory skills to the language, which develop over the year.
The content of the course covers French speaking, listening and writing, and equips students with language to use in and around different contexts of day-to-day interaction. Students develop a strong vocabulary to support their study, and demonstrate their understanding in different ways throughout the year.
Beginners French can be used to contribute towards a SACE pathway in year 12, or an IBDP pathway. If you have always enjoyed the idea of learning a language, but haven’t engaged with previous options, this is the course for you.
ASSESSMENT:
Students will demonstrate their understanding through assessment in the following forms:
- Speaking– Students are assessed on their ability to speak, respond and converse in basic French to suit different contexts.
- Listening– Students have the opportunity to listen and respond to French language from native speakers in different contexts.
- Writing– Students produce short texts and present an understanding of grammar and conventions to suit different contexts.
