Year 9 IGNITE – Together Alone
LENGTH: One term
KEY CONTACT: Amee Allison
COURSE CONTENT:
This integrated unit is designed to draw connections between the topics of comparative analysis, civics and citizenship, trigonometry and biology.
- In English, students explore concepts of freedom, identity and individualism. They consider the ways that societies and cultures shape identity and belief. They analyse the relationships between groups and individuals, and the ways that perspectives can shape experience and reality.
- In Humanities, students investigate human sovereignty, and the extent to which nationality and citizenship both enable and restrict freedoms. They compare perspectives from groups and individuals, exploring concepts of corruption, power and influence.
- In Mathematics, students learn about trigonometry, and the way it relates to cycles and movement. Students investigate the interconnected relationship between trigonometry and other forms of mathematical reasoning, recognising how mathematical concepts maintain distinction and connection in problem solving.
- In Science, explore how organisms are able to survive in response to their environments. They consider the role of reproduction in sustaining species and the strategies used in nature to sustain existence.
