RECOMMENDED BACKGROUND:

Year 8 students who wish to commence or continue learning an ensemble instrument and participate in year 8 ensemble should nominate for the full year music specialist subject.
Year 8 music specialist is a performance-based course providing students with the opportunity to access free instrumental lessons, participate in year 8 band rehearsals and performances, study the music theory, learn basic keyboard, aural and composition skills, engage in music technology projects and explore musical styles and aspects of music history through practical music-making.
Instrumental lessons are provided by instrumental music teachers to the students in small groups. Students are required to attend a half hour lesson each week outside of their classroom music lessons.
Students who undertake the year 8 music specialist full year program learn an ensemble instrument. The school can provide tuition in the following instruments:
- Flute
