RECOMMENDED BACKGROUND:
Year 10 Design & Technology: Woodwork and/or Year 10 Design & Technology: Metalwork and/or Stage 1 Integrated Learning: Trade Futures
REQUIREMENTS:
Students must be in year 11 or 12 at course commencement. They must complete the VETRO process with a registered training organisation (RTO), provide evidence of communication skills (including digital literacy), career awareness (understanding of pathways), basic industry skill awareness and an aptitude for learning to be eligible for this course.
COURSE CONTENT:
The Certificate II in Construction Pathways undertaken in a Flexible Industry Program (FIP), is highly regarded by industry as a broad and general introduction to a range of occupations in the construction industry. As part of the CITB Doorways 2 Construction program, the course is delivered in partnership with Adelaide Training and Employment Centre (ATEC). Units undertaken build directly transferable skills as part of the qualification which include, planning and organizing work, measurement and calculations, using carpentry tools and equipment and more. ASSESSMENT:
Competency based assessment against national accredited training package.
COMPLETION OF THIS SUBJECT LEADS TO:
Students have the opportunity to continue the Flexible Industry Program into further training via Advanced Carpentry Skills courses or into a School Based Apprenticeship towards SACE completion.
SUBJECT COSTS:
Costs will apply to this subject. The course attracts a $500 fee from the training provider ATEC. Students from Aberfoyle Park High School receive a $300 subsidy towards this, with commitment to pay requested prior to course commencement. Families eligible for School Card Assistance will not be required to pay any costs.
