COURSE CONTENT:
The Year 7 IGNITE English curriculum provides a range of exciting experiences for gifted learners that are aimed at developing their appreciation of the English language and the importance of progressing their own written and spoken communication skills. The IGNITE English course facilitates the authentic development of critical and creative thinking which is explicitly embedded in all the units studied. Students study a range of literary and non-literary texts to develop their understanding of complex concepts such as power, representation and community.

Throughout the year, students undertake grammar lessons and develop their skills in editing. Proficiency in the use of technology will be encouraged for enhancing students’ communication skills.

ASSESSMENT:
Four assessments throughout the year that include written and multimodal texts.
